Portfolio Ph.D. Examination Requirements

The Professional Portfolio

From the first semester in the program, graduate students prepare a Professional Portfolio representing their work. This portfolio replaces the written comprehensive examinations. Through the portfolio, students demonstrate their command of their fields and their preparation to undertake dissertation research.

The two PhD concentrations have somewhat different portfolio requirements. Students specializing in Second Language Studies do so within the Slavic Linguistics concentration, but have slightly different portfolio requirements from linguistics students. All three sets of requirements can be accessed from the buttons below. A downloadable overview of these requirements is available.
